For many years, the International Business and Management (BA) degree programme has enjoyed a successful and dynamic partnership with The Hague University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands.
This summer semester saw the return of the international collaboration project, with Prof. Dr Philipp Schorn and Fabian Dargel, M.Sc., acting as its Head of Project, which once again offered participating students a unique opportunity to gain practical experience of international collaboration.
This year’s project focused on current challenges in human resource management within small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Among other things, the international teams addressed topics such as employer branding, diversity and inclusion, employee benefits, and the use of artificial intelligence and HR analytics. The aim was to develop sustainable HR strategies for selected companies and to analyse these critically from the perspective of external consultants.
The face-to-face exchange began with a three-day kick-off event in Kleve, where students from both universities got to know one another, formed their project groups and worked together on the initial concepts. This also included a fun covered wagon ride across the Lower Rhine region, giving them the chance to get to know one another personally away from the lecture theatre. In the weeks that followed, the international teams continued their collaboration via online meetings and refined their analyses.
The highlight was the concluding three-day excursion to The Hague. There, the students presented their project findings to lecturers and fellow students from both universities. The high quality of the presentations and reports impressively demonstrated just how successfully the international teams had worked together. In addition to their technically sound solutions, the groups particularly impressed with their intercultural collaboration, creativity and professional approach. The project once again highlights the special added value of international collaboration during one’s studies. The participants not only expanded their knowledge in the field of human resource management, but also developed important skills for the future, such as teamwork, intercultural communication, problem-solving and project management.
