The Kamp-Lintfort 2020 State Garden Show has signed an official cooperation agreement with Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences. Laga Managing Director Heinrich Sperling, Laga Authorised Signatory Andreas Iland and Professor Gebauer met on 7 June at the university’s premises in Kamp-Lintfort.
In addition to the marketing partnership, the focus is on exchange and collaboration between the university, the town of Kamp-Lintfort and Landesgartenschau GmbH in the development and innovative implementation of project ideas. As a partner in this collaboration, the university will be closely involved in both the promotional activities and the event planning for the 2020 State Garden Show on a long-term basis. To this end, Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences will also establish a presence on the State Garden Show site with its planned Green FabLab.
The Green FabLab is intended to be an open-access facility, featuring a green roof, offering project workshops, seminars, lectures and events promoting sustainability, accessible to all. In particular, the focus is on inviting members of the public to become ‘makers’ and inspiring them to tackle technical challenges using their own resources. “We are delighted to have secured Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences as our first major partner for our State Garden Show,” emphasises Managing Director Martin Notthoff. Professor Gebauer, Vice-President for Research and Knowledge Transfer at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, adds: “For us, this collaboration is a contribution to sustainability, not only with regard to our shared future, but also as a key to the continued success of the town of Kamp-Lintfort.”
A further joint initiative will focus on evaluating the State Garden Show, taking into account socio-psychological as well as economic, environmental and urban planning aspects. Dr Barbara Stoberock, a lecturer with special responsibilities at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences and an employee of Landesgartenschau GmbH, will carry out an evaluation before, during and after the State Garden Show in Kamp-Lintfort to determine what benefits the Laga brings to the town.
