The university and the Stiftische Humanistische Gymnasium in Mönchengladbach have signed a cooperation agreement to highlight study opportunities and career prospects for pupils as part of their career guidance.
More than 200 pupils from the Stiftisches Humanistisches Gymnasium in Mönchengladbach have already learnt about the wide range of degree programmes offered by Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences through its various career guidance initiatives. To raise the profile of these programmes even further, the university and the grammar school have signed a cooperation agreement. The aim is to highlight study opportunities and career prospects to pupils through joint initiatives as part of their career guidance. They will be given the opportunity to take part in on-site activities whilst getting to know the university.
In addition to the existing programme – which is to be communicated more clearly to pupils through direct engagement – additional formats specifically designed for this partnership are also being considered. Ideas for this will be developed jointly, taking into account the grammar school’s needs and the university’s capabilities. For example, there are already plans to recruit grammar school graduates currently studying at the university to act as mentors for prospective students or those just starting their studies.
The coordinators of the partnership are Professor Dr Frank Schmitz, Professor of Business Administration, and Headteacher Thomas Hollkott. “We are looking forward to working together and are confident that there will be many more good ideas from both sides,” says Professor Schmitz optimistically. And Hollkott adds: “Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences is an ideal partner for our grammar school thanks to its interdisciplinary and strong international focus.”
