A total of 32 companies and sponsors are supporting 68 scholarship holders at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences with a Germany Scholarship.
The university president, Dr Heide Naderer, emphasised the mutual benefits of this partnership: “Both the scholarship holder and the company stand to benefit equally from the collaboration between the sponsors and Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences within the framework of the Germany Scholarship. The partnership is individualised and tailor-made. The company does not contribute to an anonymous fund, but maintains personal contact with the scholarship recipients – work placements, final-year projects or a future career with the sponsor are often a distinct possibility,” said Dr Naderer.
To this end, the Career Service at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences offers a support programme to complement the Germany Scholarship. The various ideas and possible components of such a support programme – such as regular get-togethers with sponsors and scholarship holders, company visits, a scholarship dinner or a joint yearbook – were presented to the scholarship holders last week at the first kick-off meeting for all Germany Scholarship recipients. In a workshop, Christine Noelle, a member of staff from the Career Service, then worked out the full programme together with the students.
In collaboration with committed companies, associations, foundations and private sponsors, students with above-average academic performance are to be supported through the Germany Scholarship. In addition to first-class academic results, social engagement and outstanding personal achievements are also taken into account when awarding the scholarships.
“It is important to us to develop the programme together with all scholarship holders, taking into account the students’ wishes and goals. The aim of the accompanying Career Service Programme for the Germany Scholarship is to provide a platform for networking between scholarship holders and the sponsoring organisations,” said Noelle.
