For Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, with its students from over 120 different countries, the biggest multi-sport event after the Olympic and Paralympic Games is a unique opportunity to experience top-class sport live. Students will be able to cheer on the top student athletes from their home countries in person and celebrate their successes.
The university’s sports department aims to capitalise on the link between grassroots and elite sport to further expand competitive sport – alongside the existing cricket and futsal teams – and to strengthen grassroots sport. The FISU Games will draw attention to university sport, thereby providing an opportunity to generate new momentum.
The FISU World University Games are a global event organised by the Fédération du Sport Universitaire (FISU). The World University Games are an international multi-sport event and are held in summer and winter, much like the Olympic Games. They have been taking place every two years since 1959.
