Simply climbing through a jumbo jet and taking a good look at the technology from the inside, seeing a Russian space shuttle up close and inspecting a Soyuz re-entry capsule – the 67 students from the faculty were able to experience all of this during an excursion to the Speyer Technical Museum.

Organised by Prof. Andy Stamm, the two-day trip saw students from various degree programmes take part for the first time; they were accompanied not only by Prof. Stamm but also by Thomas Grunenberg, Prof. Ronny Hartanto and Prof. Peter Kisters. The faculty covered the costs of the coach journey and accommodation at a youth hostel.
The excursion was a great success with the students, not only because of the impressive exhibits at the Technology Museum and the chance to try out so many things. The participants also thoroughly enjoyed the evening spent together in the pub and the convivial get-together at the youth hostel.
In future, the trip to one of the largest technology museums is to be offered on a regular basis.
