After a hiatus of more than two years due to the coronavirus pandemic, students can finally take part in company visits again. In early May, the Biomaterials Science course, led by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Raimund Sicking, visited the Mercedes-Benz plant in Düsseldorf together with guests from the Master’s programme in Bionics. Here, over 6,000 people and more than 770 robots assemble the Sprinter model – available with both diesel and electric powertrains – for the global market. Following the five-hour tour, all the students were impressed by the scale and complexity of industrial manufacturing and hope that another excursion will be organised soon.
