On 17 October, the kick-off event for the ‘HSRW MINT Girls’ mentoring programme for the winter semester took place.

Successful launch of the HSRW MINT Girls
The HSRW MINT Girls are part of a mentoring programme at the Faculty of Technology & Bionics at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences. It was launched in the summer term of 2018 by Dr Alina Leson (decentralised equal opportunities officer) and Phyllis Ndugire (a student on the Master’s programme in Mechanical Engineering). The programme aims to help female students settle into their studies more easily through mentoring, networking, field trips and workshops, and to get to know other female students on STEM degree programmes. This enables them to share experiences, build networks and recognise their own subject-specific skills as strengths in their studies. Workshops provide important information on application documents, work placements, part-time work and funding opportunities. In addition, alumnae, female professors and working women highlight career prospects in academia and industry. Excursions to companies in the region are also organised.
