Students from the Faculty of Technology and Bionics have received numerous awards in recent weeks – we are delighted and offer our warmest congratulations!
Catalin Dascaliuc has been honoured twice: for his outstanding final-year project entitled ‘A comprehensive study on gearbox fault diagnosis based on vibration analysis’ (supervised by Prof. Roland Schmetz) on the Mechanical Engineering programme, he received the Alumni Association’s Graduate Award, which was presented at the graduation ceremony in November. His thesis was also recognised with an award from the Lower Rhine regional association of the VDI (Association of German Engineers); the award was presented at the end of November at the VDI’s end-of-year meeting.
Two postgraduate prizes, funded by Dr Peter Sommer and Dr Paul Bösken-Diebels, were awarded to Jay-Pradipkumar Leuva, who was honoured for his final thesis on the topic “Process Development for the Oxidation of Copper Alloys used in Bonds with Insulating Materials” (supervised by Prof. Amir Fahmi), and to Srujan Prakash Shivanna for his thesis “Generative design: An innovative product development concept for aircraft components” (supervised by Prof. Stefanie Dederichs).
At its end-of-year meeting, the VDI’s Lower Rhine Regional Association honoured three further students from the Faculty alongside Catalin Dascaliuc: Erfan and Ehsan Jamshidi received an award for their joint final-year project on ‘Requirements Engineering and System Design for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles’ (supervised by Prof. Matthias Krauledat), as did Himani Birnale for her final-year dissertation “Temperature Observer of a Lithium Battery” (supervised by Prof. Dirk Nissing).
