Manfred Hendricks will be speaking at the next Studium Generale lecture on 14 January 2016 at 6 pm on the Kleve campus, allowing the music itself to ‘speak’.
Kleve/Kamp-Lintfort, 8 January 2016: Music is ever-present. It shapes our everyday lives, whether we like it or not. Most of the time, we perceive it unconsciously, which makes its effect on us all the more powerful. Messages are conveyed through music; emotions are stirred.
This is the first of its kind: a musical lecture based on the talks in the Studium Generale series ‘Music as a Panacea and Secret Code’, which took place last year in Kleve and Kamp-Lintfort and which explored the effects of music on our health and, above all, on our communication. However, you can easily follow the concert programme even without this prior knowledge. Visual, verbal and, above all, audio presentations on the themes of communication, definitions of music, emotions, control of consciousness, and the positive and problematic aspects of music’s effects will be played and explained.
The lecture forms part of the Studium Generale programme. The lecture series is aimed at the general public, as well as students, lecturers and staff at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, and presents current topics in a way that is relevant to everyday life and informative. The series also offers the opportunity to engage with current issues. “We invite everyone, whatever their age, to attend these fascinating lectures,” says the university’s President, Dr Heide Naderer. At the same time, she sees the programme as an opportunity to get to know the university’s two campuses.
