Congratulations to our EPOS scholarship holders Sayed Ahmad Fahim Masoumi and Samrina Jafrin for being accepted into the highly competitive Carlo Schmid Programme

Sayed Ahmad Fahim will be starting an internship at the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development, UNRISD and Samrina Jafrin will be part of the United Nations University team of the Vice-Recotrate in Europe.

"Non-Conflicts" in Central Asia

From 30 May to 7 June 2022, a workshop on "Non-Conflicts" in Central Asia was held in Almaty, Kazakhstan, funded by the German Academic Exchange Service and led by Prof. Dr Jakob Lempp. The workshop focused on the question of whether there are regions in Central Asia in which violent conflicts were or are conceivable in principle due to certain structural conditions (e.g. ethnic diversity or socio-economic problems), but ultimately did not occur.

Insight into the work of a consultant

Students from International Taxation and Law, B.A. had the possibility to get to know the work as a consultant at Ernst & Young GmbH – Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft (EY), one of the big four consultant companies worldwide. For our students this was the perfect possibility to extend their network.

Successful "Make an Impact! Day!" at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences

On 1 June 2022, the largest event of the project "StartGlocal - Global Spirit for Local Start-ups" took place at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences. Together with the Career Service of the Faculty of Society and Economics, a complete event day was organised around the topics of sustainability and start-ups with a sustainable and social impact.

Researcher from Kazakhstan visits the Faculty of Society and Economics

Since 1 June 2022, the Faculty of Society and Economics welcomes the new visiting scholar Ms Bakhytkul Tokbergenova, who will conduct research at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences for two months and deepen the exchange between Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences and Kazakh scientific institutions, which has already been established for several years.

Only together to success!

As part of the Research and Management Skills module in the International Business and Management, B.A. degree programme as well as Scientific Skills in der International Taxation and Law, B.A. degree programme, students also learn a lot about teamwork and team building. Applied learning in this case means carrying out an Egg Drop Challenge. For this, the students have the task of dropping an egg from a height of several metres as a team, without breaking it, of course. The equipment available is straws, tape and scissors.

Field trip to Henkel Group

As part of a project in international taxation with Prof. Dr. habil. Ute Merbecks eleven bachelors’ students from International Taxation and Law were given the opportunity to visit the headquarter of Henkel Group in Düsseldorf. Besides an official presentation about the company and possible tax career opportunities at Henkel, our students had quite informative discussions with tax-experts from Henkel.
