Studying at the Hochschule Rhein Waal – The definition of applied sciences

I enrolled in the Master Degree in Sustainable Development Management during the Summer Semester of 2017. Despite being sceptical of studying in a small town such as Kleve and not having heard about the HSRW before, I was attracted by this particular study programme that at the time was a unicum in the EU landscape. After some years and seen where this Master has brought me I can surely say that I have made the best possible choice.
As an Italian with a background in International Relations and Diplomacy at the University of Bologna and having studied and lived in different large cities worldwide, adapting to Kleve was, at first, quite cumbersome. However, the University staff was really helpful in providing all the help needed to get around German bureaucracy and University regulations.

More than just a University

I am Shaiful from Bangladesh. I completed my M.Sc. degree in Economics and Finance at Rhien-Waal University of Applied Sciences (HSRW) in 2015. Since then I have been employed as a Manager in Controlling department in a German-based company. I would like to share my experience during my study at HSRW.

To begin with, it was not an easy decision for me to study at HSRW as the university was quite new. Generally the shortcomings of a newly established university might outweigh that it has to offer for the international students. Satisfying enough, my decision has been paid off well.

Rhine-Waal: An international and tolerant university that opens doors.

My name is Kilian Wirthwein Vega, I am originally from Würzburg, Germany and I have been a student of the bachelor course International Relations at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Science from 2012 until 2016. Currently, I am studying a Master in Conflict Studies at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

My studies at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences: International Relations B.A.

My name is Oliver, and I studied International Relations at Rhine-Waal University in Kleve. After school, I had been living in the Republic of Ireland for eight months, where I worked with teenagers during my European Voluntary Service. I started my studies in September 2012, self-assured about my English and convinced that studying IR would help me understand the world and be able to explain it to everyone. A little hint: it does not always work this way, but understanding the complexity and messiness of things is part of the experience.

My studies at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences: „Sustainable Development Management“

When I started studying `Sustainable Development Management` in September 2016, the Master program was still relatively new.
