The Children’s University at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences has got off to a successful start in the summer term. The next lecture will focus on the topic ‘Why is it art? Or: How does a work of art end up in a museum?’.
Every child enjoys painting and drawing, but how does one actually become a real artist? And what exactly makes a work of art? In the next lecture at the Children’s University, our young aspiring students will learn about the various stages a work of art goes through before it can be admired in a museum, and the different people involved in the process. Together with the artist Ilka Sulten and the art historian Sarah Lampe, the young audience will follow the journey of a work of art from the artist’s studio to the museum. They will also explore the question of where the ideas and inspiration for a truly great work of art come from.
The event will take place on 16 May 2018 from 5.15 pm to 6.00 pm in the Audimax on the Kleve campus of Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, Marie-Curie-Straße 1, 47533 Kleve. Admission is free and no advance registration is required.
