The next “University–Business Transfer Meeting” will focus on the activities of the Faculty of Communication and the Environment. Local businesses and organisations will have the opportunity to find out about the faculty’s programmes and areas of focus, and to make use of the platform provided for discussion and networking. The event will centre on the presentation of ideas for the university’s planned Green FabLab, followed by a discussion on this project and the topics of green energy, green technology, green materials, green monitoring, green assessment and the green economy.
The Green FabLab is a facility that Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences intends to establish in collaboration with regional partners as part of the 2020 State Garden Show in Kamp-Lintfort. The term ‘Green FabLab’ is modelled on the FabLab (short for Fabrication Laboratory), which already exists on the Kamp-Lintfort campus. The Kamp-Lintfort FabLab is part of an international network of open workshops aimed at disseminating knowledge about digital manufacturing and enabling interested people to engage in creative work under the motto ‘How to Make Almost Anything’.
A Green FabLab aims to extend this concept of open and creative working to the fields of environmental and agricultural research, creating a creative space for interdisciplinary collaboration between business, technology, the environment and sustainability that involves science, industry and society alike. “This kind of knowledge transfer is very close to the heart of Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, which is why we invite all interested parties to contribute their ideas and help shape the planning and development of the Green FabLab in Kamp-Lintfort,” says the university’s President, Dr Heide Naderer.
The event will take place in the former RAG warehouse building on the Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences campus, Friedrich-Heinrich-Allee 59, 47475 Kamp-Lintfort.
