Once again this year, the Friends of Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences – Kleve Campus e.V. hosted the traditional Weckmann feast in the canteen on the Kleve campus. Numerous hungry guests accepted the invitation to marvel at what is probably the largest Weckmann in the Lower Rhine region and to tuck into it together.
University President Dr Oliver Locker-Grütjen and the Chair of the Friends’ Association, Peter Wack, officially opened the banquet by cutting into the three-metre-tall, freshly baked journeyman’s cake together.
The culinary gathering was accompanied by live music from John Crossan on the guitar, as well as the university choir and orchestra. In addition, the ‘Holiday Shindig’, organised by the Kleve AStA in collaboration with the student councils, took place at the same time, featuring a variety of activities. Once again this year, people of many generations and nationalities came together at the pre-Christmas gathering to enjoy the festivities. Over mulled wine and hot chocolate, the cheerful get-together continued well into the evening.
