University? Yes or no?

With its comprehensive programme, the event is not only aimed at secondary school pupils in their final years and their parents. There is also specific content for prospective students who do not have a (subject-specific) A-level or who have children. Over the course of these two weeks, participants will receive all the necessary information on topics such as starting university, choosing a course and organising their studies.

At the Kleve and Kamp-Lintfort campuses, the four faculties and the Central Student Advisory Service will be introducing themselves to those interested. They will provide an insight into the university and various career paths, as well as offering support and advice. In addition, there will be interdisciplinary and programme-specific events, workshops, information sessions and consultation hours. There will also be opportunities to speak directly with experts.  



The programme includes, amongst other things, the Study Orientation Day at the Kleve campus, featuring an information session for prospective students and parents/guardians (16 January 2020, 3.00 pm to 7.00 pm), which will address all key questions relating to studying at university. Furthermore, consultation sessions for prospective students are also available for those without a (subject-specific) A-level qualification, for students with children, and for parents and guardians. Talks on the topics of study guidance and course offerings take place every hour. At specially set-up stands, information will be provided, for example, on funding your studies or studying abroad from a student’s perspective. At the study guidance workshop on the Kamp-Lintfort campus (24 January 2020, 3.00 pm to 6.30 pm), school pupils will receive support in deciding which path to take after leaving school.



The Bachelor’s degree programmes will be presented at the Kleve campus on 22 January 2020 and at the Kamp-Lintfort campus on 23 January 2020, starting at 4.30 pm on both occasions. The event will begin at both venues with an introductory talk entitled ‘Welcome to Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences’, providing information on the application process, entry requirements and study options.

The “Study Orientation Weeks” were launched as a joint initiative by the Ministry of Science, the Ministry of Education, the Regional Directorate of North Rhine-Westphalia, the Federal Employment Agency and the universities in North Rhine-Westphalia.
