The series of events at the Kleve Campus will conclude on 21 January at 7.00 pm with the talk ‘FabLab goes green – Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences at the 2020 State Garden Show: from digital manufacturing to urban gardening’.
On 17 April 2020, the State Garden Show in Kamp-Lintfort will open its doors. The organisers are embarking on a special experiment: for the first time, a State Garden Show is being held in close cooperation with a university. To this end, a new institute, the GreenFabLab, is currently being set up on the exhibition grounds. This institution sees itself as a knowledge transfer institute in two respects: on the one hand, it aims to systematically develop methods and techniques of digital manufacturing for the environmental and energy sectors; on the other hand, its programme includes networking events in the form of workshops, to which interested parties from the worlds of science, business, politics and the general public are invited. As part of this, specific problems will be discussed, with the aim of deriving work and development requirements for the GreenFabLab from them. Professor Dr Kai J. Tiedemann, Professor of Ecology and the Environment at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, and Franz-Josef Kuhnigk, the university’s master gardener, will present the basic concept of the GreenFabLab and highlight a number of key themes.
The event will take place on 21 January at 7.00 pm on the Kleve campus of Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, Marie-Curie-Straße 1, Lecture Theatre Centre, ground floor, Room 01 EG 005 (Lecture Theatre 01).
The lecture forms part of the Studium Generale programme and has been designed to make science accessible through presentations that are easy for everyone to understand. The lecture programme is aimed at the general public, students, school pupils and those interested in science in the region, as well as professors and staff at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, with a focus on general, universal education. The lecture series also provides a platform for lively exchange and discussion on current issues. Attendance at the Studium Generale lectures at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences is free of charge and no prior registration is required.
