“Drinking water – the number one foodstuff: sustainable water supply from technical, hygienic and socio-political perspectives” is the title of the lecture by Dipl.-Ing. Rolf Rheinschmidt and Andreas Kaudelka.
A safe and hygienically sound water supply now involves all stakeholders, whether they be water suppliers, industrial users, building owners or end consumers. The water supplier’s responsibility for the quality of the drinking water supplied effectively ends at the main water meter of the respective building. From that point onwards, it is the owner’s responsibility to ensure that the drinking water remains in perfect condition. Factors such as the ‘outer packaging’ surrounding drinking water – including pipes and conduits – as well as the volumes drawn and the frequency of use play a decisive role in this regard. The presentation will outline the legal, technical and hygiene requirements and explain the necessary procedures for building owners.
The event will take place at the Kleve Campus of Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, Marie-Curie-Straße 1, Lecture Theatre Centre, ground floor, Room 01 EG 005 (Lecture Theatre 1).
The lecture forms part of the Studium Generale programme and has been designed to make science accessible through lectures that are easy for everyone to understand. The lecture programme is aimed at the general public, students, school pupils and anyone in the region with an interest in science, as well as lecturers and staff at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, with a focus on general, universal education. The lecture series also provides a platform for lively exchange and discussion on current issues.
