A presentation by Professor Dr Jan van der Molen (Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences) and Hans-Heinrich Beenen (Xanten-Kleve Dyke Association) will address the topic of ‘Flood protection in the district of Kleve and cross-border aspects of flood protection in general’.
Against the backdrop of climate change, flood protection is a particularly pressing issue. The event will focus primarily on how the district of Kleve is tackling today’s challenges in this area and how cooperation with the Netherlands is organised. What are the cross-border aspects of flood protection, what can we learn from them, and how is this applied at the university? The speakers will provide answers by shedding light on their day-to-day practice of flood protection and cross-border cooperation.
The event will take place at the Kleve campus of Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, Marie-Curie-Straße 1, Lecture Theatre Centre, ground floor, Room 01 EG 005 (Lecture Theatre 1).
The lecture forms part of the Studium Generale programme and has been designed to make academic research accessible through lectures that are easy for everyone to understand. The lecture programme is aimed at all members of the public, students, school pupils and those interested in science in the region, as well as at lecturers and staff at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, with a focus on general, universal education.
