Kleve/Kamp-Lintfort, 24 April 2014: The Studium Generale programme will once again feature presentations on fascinating topics in the coming summer term. Experts from the fields of higher education, medicine, computer science and technology will be giving talks at the Kleve campus and the new Kamp-Lintfort campus of Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences. They will present current topics in a way that is relevant to everyday life, once again offering interested members of the public an informative and entertaining insight.
Kleve/Kamp-Lintfort, 24 April 2014: The Studium Generale will once again be hosting lectures on a range of fascinating topics during the coming summer term. Experts from the fields of higher education, medicine, computer science and technology will be giving talks at the Kleve Campus and the new Kamp-Lintfort Campus of Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences. They will present current topics in a way that relates to everyday life, once again offering interested members of the public an informative and entertaining insight.
The Kleve Campus will kick off the lecture series for members of the public interested in politics with the topic ‘Ahead of the European elections – where is Europe heading?’. The next lecture, ‘The pancreas – a small gland, a big impact. Rumours and facts from antiquity to the present day’, will focus on the medical aspects of the pancreas. The series at the Kleve Campus will conclude for all interested members of the public with an insight into the aspects of artificial joint replacement with the lecture ‘From ivory joints to ceramic knees’.
At the Kamp-Lintfort campus, the lecture entitled ‘Is the Internet of Things dangerous?’ will give participants an insight into the new vulnerabilities arising from increasing connectivity. The final lecture in the Studium Generale programme will focus on the distillation of spirits from the region. The lecture series for the 2014 summer term will conclude with the lecture ‘Alcohol at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences’.
The lecture programme is aimed at the general public as well as students, lecturers and staff at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, and presents current topics in a way that is relevant to everyday life and informative. The lecture series also offers the chance to engage with current issues. “We invite everyone, regardless of age, to attend these fascinating lectures,” says the University’s President, Prof. Dr Marie-Louise Klotz. At the same time, she sees the programme as an opportunity to visit the University’s two campuses and the new buildings on the new campuses.
The Studium Generale lectures at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences are free of charge for members of the public.
