Through the ‘speed dating’ event format, Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences and its Friends’ Association bring businesses and students together.
Kleve/Kamp-Lintfort, 26 November 2015: There is a pressing need for young professionals in the Lower Rhine region as well. With over 6,000 students across a wide range of subject areas, Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences offers enormous potential for businesses in the region. One of the 20 companies keen to meet potential young talent at the speed-dating event on the Kleve campus was Signode System GmbH. At its Dinslaken site, the company manufactures steel and plastic straps and, with its products, ranks amongst the leading suppliers in the industrial packaging sector. The internationally active company specifically targets students and offers them the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in practice through work placements. “We are building a ‘pool of young talent’ from suitable candidates to become our future specialists and managers. At the speed-dating event, we were able to meet highly motivated students who are of great interest to our company,” says Human Resources Manager Reinhard Bittner.
Signode System GmbH is by no means an isolated case. “Some companies are now regulars at the speed-dating sessions,” reports Stefan Finke, Managing Director of the Friends’ Association of the Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, which organises the event. “They value the time and cost savings compared to conventional recruitment processes.” Speed-dating allows introductory interviews to take place at 10-minute intervals. Up to twelve interviews can thus be conducted on site during the three-hour session. A repeat of the speed-dating event at the Kamp-Lintfort and Kleve campuses is planned for 2016.
