In his lecture ‘Cash is King – The Germans and their love of cash’, Professor Serfling talks about one of the Germans’ favourite things.
This year’s Wednesday Academy at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences is being held under the wide-ranging theme ‘From regional to global – the economy and society in the current climate’. In his lecture ‘Cash is King – Germans and their love of cash’, Professor Dr Oliver Serfling, Professor of Economic Policy and Development Economics at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, will discuss one of the Germans’ favourite pastimes. Surveys show that around 90 per cent of the voting-age population are opposed to the abolition of cash. Based on a large-scale opinion poll of German voters, the lecture examines the various arguments and explores what might lead to a gradual shift in Germans’ attitudes.
The lecture will take place on 17 April 2019 at 6.00 pm on the Kleve campus, Marie-Curie-Straße 1, in Building 02, Room 02 01 017 (Seminar Room 5).
As part of the Wednesday Academy, current topics are presented in an engaging manner by speakers from academia and professional practice, examined from a theoretical perspective and discussed in a large group. The lecture series is aimed primarily at the general public, but also at students and teaching staff at the university. Attendance is free of charge and no prior registration is required.
