Once again this year, the university is taking part in the WWF’s Earth Hour and, together with other organisations worldwide, is sending a strong message in support of protecting the planet.
Millions of private households, numerous buildings, public spaces and landmarks around the world will switch off their lights on 30 March 2019 from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm local time to jointly draw attention to the growing importance of environmental and climate protection. Earth Hour is now in its thirteenth year and was launched by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), one of the largest international nature and environmental organisations.
Global warming and climate change pose major challenges for everyone. As a university committed to sustainability, Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences therefore considers it important not only to be part of this global movement, but also to use its participation to clearly voice the call for greater climate protection. Similarly, Schwanenburg Castle in Kleve, Kleve Collegiate Church and Volksbank Kleverland will switch off their lights.
