On 11 May 2016, the Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences’ Children’s University will kick off its next round with a very special lecture! The Physikanten will be performing their football show. It starts at 5.15 pm in the Audimax at the Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences in Kamp-Lintfort.
Kleve/Kamp-Lintfort, 28 April 2016: The 2016 European Football Championship in France is fast approaching. Once again, the German team are among the favourites. In their ultimate football show, Die Physikanten demonstrate the link between football and physics. How do we deal with dangerous free kicks? What happens when you put a ball under serious pressure? And what chance does the goalkeeper have against a penalty? With this show, nothing can go wrong in France!
With humour, music and spectacular experiments, Die Physikanten bring the laws of nature to life for their audience. They have been touring Germany and Europe since 2000. They have appeared regularly on television in the science programme ‘Kopfball’ (ARD) and on ‘Galileo’ (ProSieben). They have received numerous awards for their work, such as the German Physical Society’s Medal for Science Journalism in 2012. They thus follow in the footsteps of Peter Lustig, Ranga Yogeshwar and the ‘Sendung mit der Maus’ programme.
The Children’s University
Through the Children’s University, Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences offers children aged between eight and twelve the opportunity to develop a passion for the world of science through lectures (45 minutes) designed especially for them. Just like proper students, they are issued with student ID cards. They sit in lecture theatres and can ask real professors all sorts of questions. The main difference from a proper degree course is that there are no exams to sit.

Children who are keen to study at the Children’s University can attend either all or just some of the lectures. The current lecture timetable for the Children’s University can be viewed on the Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences website at www.hochschule-rhein-waal.de. No registration is required for the lectures. Admission is free.
