Opening of a new fast-charging station for electric vehicles in Kamp-Lintfort at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences

On 29 January 2026, Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, in collaboration with the North Rhine-Westphalia Building and Property Management Authority (BLB NRW), opened a new fast-charging station for electric vehicles in the university’s car park in Kamp-Lintfort. The e-charging park is operated by EWE Go HOCHTIEF Ladepartner GmbH & Co. KG. The charging park forms part of the nationwide funding programme ‘Deutschlandnetz – Regionallose’ run by the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport (BMDV).

By providing the site, the university and the BLB NRW are making a significant contribution to the expansion of the charging infrastructure and the promotion of sustainable mobility in the region. The covered charging points, which can accommodate 12 vehicles, are compatible with all standard electric vehicles and are available round the clock. The maximum charging power is 400 kW, and payment can be made easily via an app, a charging card or a credit card. The facility is complemented by seating areas and nearby catering options, such as those provided by the Studierendenwerk in the university’s canteen, as well as shopping facilities in Kamp-Lintfort town centre.

In addition to the university’s Chancellor, Dr Annett Schmeck, the event was also attended by the Mayor of Kamp-Lintfort, Prof. Christoph Landscheidt; the Dean of the Kamp-Lintfort Campus, Prof. Dr Klaus Hegemann; representatives from the BLB NRW; and staff from the university’s facilities management team

With the opening of the e-charging park, the university is making a contribution to climate protection and promoting sustainable mobility in Kamp-Lintfort and the wider region.
