Lecture on the topic ‘The Best of Both Worlds – A Comparison of the German and Dutch Higher Education Systems’ as part of the Studium Generale programme at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences on 18 May 2016 at 6.30 pm on the Kleve campus.
Kleve/Kamp-Lintfort, 4 May 2016: Having spent several years working at German and international universities, Dr Sabine Jentges has been a lecturer in German Language and Culture and Netherlands-Germany Studies at Radboud University in Nijmegen since 2008. Among other roles, she is the programme coordinator for the binational joint-degree Master’s programme in ‘Netherlands-Germany Studies’ run by the universities of Münster and Nijmegen.
Together with German and Dutch students on this programme, she discusses the differences between the German and Dutch higher education systems, both in terms of organisation and content, and what each side (and vice versa) has to offer, as well as how the diversity of study cultures can contribute to learning: ‘The best of both worlds’, as it were.
The lecture forms part of the Studium Generale programme. The lecture series is aimed at the general public as well as students, academics and staff at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, and presents current topics in a way that is relevant to everyday life and informative. The series also offers the opportunity to engage with current issues. “We invite everyone, regardless of age, to attend these fascinating lectures,” says the university’s President, Dr Heide Naderer. At the same time, she sees the programme as an opportunity to get to know the university’s two campuses.
