Prof. Dr Frank Zimmer was awarded second place in the Engineering/Computer Science category as ‘Professor of the Year 2016’. The award was organised by the alumni magazine UNICUM.
Students, employers, university graduates, academics and business representatives nominated a total of 1,250 university lecturers for the ‘Professors of the Year 2016’ competition organised by the alumni magazine UNICUM. A jury comprising Prof. Winifried Schulze, former Chair of the German Science Council, Prof. Dr Markus Thomas Münter (THW Saar) and Prof. Dr Detlef Jensen (FH Westküste), Prof. Dr Uwe Peter Janning (Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences) and Prof. Dr Bernharf Jörs (Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences) selected the winners from the numerous nominations.
Prof. Dr Frank Zimmer, Professor of Computer Science, (Internet) Programming, System Software, Business Information Systems and Software Engineering at the Faculty of Communication and Environment, was awarded second prize by the alumni magazine UNICUM. Prof. Zimmer is recognised for his excellent and practice-oriented teaching and research. He is regarded as a ‘mentor’ to his students, drawing on his contacts in the professional world to build bridges between academia and the business sector. The jury therefore regards Prof. Zimmer as a true trailblazer in career development.
The competition is held under the patronage of the Federal Ministries of Education and Research and of Economic Affairs and Energy. It is sponsored by the accountancy firm KPMG.
