Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences is delighted to welcome this year’s Bachelor’s and Master’s graduates. At a graduation ceremony followed by a champagne reception on 12 June 2015, held at the Stadthalle in Kleve and in the Audimax on the Kamp-Lintfort campus, 260 students were sent off into their professional lives with best wishes for the future.
Kleve/Kamp-Lintfort, 12 June 2015: In her speech, the President of Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, Dr Heide Naderer, reflected on the highs and lows of the students’ time at university. “We are delighted to have so many successful graduates. We are confident that, having successfully completed their degrees, they are excellently qualified to start their careers. We wish them every success in their future endeavours,” said the President of the university.
This year, the Friends’ Association of Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, together with the Lower Rhine Business Association and ALTANA AG, awarded three prizes for outstanding achievements. Firstly, Kevin Gerritzen, a student on the Bachelor’s programme in ‘Mechatronic Systems Engineering’ at the Faculty of Technology and Bionics, was honoured by the Förderverein Hochschule Rhein-Waal e.V. Next, Marco Schinköthe, a student on the ‘E-Government’ Bachelor’s programme in the Faculty of Communication and Environment, received his prize from ALTANA AG. Finally, the Lower Rhine Business Association (Unternehmerschaft Niederrhein e.V.) recognised the achievements of student Simon Schott from the ‘Quality, Environment, Safety and Hygiene’ programme at the Faculty of Life Sciences. All the prize-winners are distinguished by their outstanding academic achievements, having completed their studies within the standard duration, as well as their additional social or cultural involvement in various projects at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences. The sponsors congratulated the graduates on their degrees and presented them with the prize, each worth 1,500 euros.
Special thanks go to the Lower Rhine Business Association and ALTANA AG, who donated the prizes this year through the Friends’ Association, and to the numerous sponsors from the business community who are actively committed to the university’s successful development. “Talented young people with specialist expertise and innovative ideas are of particular importance to the regional economy. With their outstanding achievements, the prize-winners have demonstrated that they are ideally equipped for the start of their professional careers. We are therefore delighted to be able to support them through our sponsorship awards,” said Stefan Finke, Managing Director of the Friends of Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences e.V.
Special thanks also go to the Förderverein Campus Kamp-Lintfort, the Friends’ Association of Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences in the District of Wesel e.V., which presented prizes to a total of eleven students – the top graduates from each degree programme in the Faculty of Communication and Environment in Kamp-Lintfort. The Friends’ Association presented the prizes, each worth 200 euros, to: Daniel Terpoorten from the Bachelor’s programme in ‘Media and Communication Informatics’, Snigdha Baloni from the Master’s programme in ‘Usability Engineering’, Jan-Hendrik Kehrmann from the Bachelor’s programme in ‘Mobility and Logistics’, Lina Riedel, Sandra Hannig and Verena Schürmann from the Bachelor’s programme in ‘Psychology (Work and Organisational Psychology)’, Isabell Eickhoff from the ‘Environment and Energy’ Bachelor’s programme, Apiwat Anuntrachartwong from the ‘Information and Communication Design’ Bachelor’s programme, Juliana Gröning from the Bachelor’s programme in ‘International Business and Social Sciences’, and Marc-André Macziejek from the Bachelor’s programme in ‘E-Government’.
In addition, the faculties at the Kleve campus honoured their best Bachelor’s and Master’s graduates. From the Faculty of Technology and Bionics, Anna-Lena Schell from the Bachelor’s programme in ‘Biomaterials Science’ and Frank Veenstra from the Master’s programme in ‘Bionics/Biomimetics’ were presented with a certificate. The Faculty of Life Sciences honoured Lisanne Born from the ‘Food Sciences’ Master’s programme, Sabine Paffenholz from the ‘Bio Science and Health’ Bachelor’s programme, and Marlies Cleven from the ‘Sustainable Agriculture’ Bachelor’s programme. The most successful graduates from the Faculty of Society and Economics are Jelena Vaslic from the Master’s programme in ‘Economics and Finance’, Pascal Tonnissen from the Bachelor’s programme in ‘Alternative Tourism’ and Ludmilla Nowikow from the Bachelor’s programme in ‘International Business and Social Sciences’.
The ZONTA Club Kleve honoured the exceptional social commitment of student Millie Jessica Fortunato Santos from the ‘International Relations’ programme in the Faculty of Society and Economics with the ‘Zonta Award’. The President of the ZONTA Club Niederrhein, Ms Marion van Bebber, presented the winner with the prize, which is worth 1,000 euros.
