Thanks to the commitment of numerous regional businesses, associations, foundations and private individuals, high-achieving students at the university will once again be able to receive a Germany Scholarship in the 2025/26 academic year. A total of 71 students received the award this year.
In a festive atmosphere, Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, together with the three supporting associations, thanked the sponsors of the Germany Scholarship at the traditional scholarship dinner in Kleve. On this evening, scholarship recipients, sponsors and representatives of the university came together to exchange ideas and forge new connections.
In addition to financial support, the university and the supporting associations are particularly keen to foster closer interaction between students and sponsors. The scholarship dinner thus once again offered the approximately 100 guests the opportunity to engage in personal conversations about their studies, career paths and future prospects. In a festive atmosphere, connections were forged between students, representatives of the regional business community and members of the university.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Peter Kisters, Vice-President for Research, Innovation and Knowledge Transfer, emphasised in his speech the importance of the programme for the region and thanked the scholarship donors: “Through your commitment and the support you provide to these young people, you are not only demonstrating your commitment but also choosing to invest in our future. We would like to thank you for that.”
Eva Folkerts, Managing Director of the Förderverein Hochschule Rhein-Waal e.V., also praised the sponsors’ commitment and addressed the scholarship recipients: “Make the most of this evening to get to know one another, exchange ideas and network. This should mark the start of a successful academic year for you all.”

Information on the Germany Scholarship
The Germany Scholarship supports students at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences who have already achieved outstanding academic results or who are expected to achieve particularly good academic results. In addition to academic performance and previous academic record, social commitment, a willingness to take on responsibility and any special social, family or personal circumstances are taken into account. Scholarship holders receive a monthly grant of €300.00 for one year. Half of the funding is raised by the university from private sponsors, whilst the other half is provided by the federal government. Students of all nationalities and from all disciplines are eligible to apply. They must be enrolled at the university or intend to enrol in the following semester. The application period for the Deutschlandstipendium takes place via an online portal every May. This financial support enables scholarship recipients to focus more intensively on their studies. In addition to financial support, the programme emphasises non-material values. For example, a support programme offers workshops on a wide variety of topics, a scholarship network and contacts within the regional business community. Interaction with sponsors provides opportunities for industry-related dissertations and other projects.
