Library of Things

Borrow, don't buy

In addition to electronic and printed media, the Library of the Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences also offers many useful items for loan in its ‘Library of Things’.

Loan start: Kleve 5 January and Kamp-Lintfort 26 January 2026

What is the Library of Things?

You can choose from toolboxes, outdoor games and sports equipment – things you may only need occasionally, which may be too expensive to buy, or which you simply want to try out.

With every loan, the library and its users contribute to resource-saving and environmentally conscious consumption and act in the spirit of a ‘sharing society’.

An overview of all items available for loan can be found on site or in the Katalog PLUS under the keyword or menu item ‘Library of Things’.

Loan, use and return

The Library of Things is a service for students and citizens. You need a valid library card to borrow items. The loan period is usually 14 days. The loan period is automatically extended to a maximum of 28 days, provided that the item has not been reserved by other users.

To borrow an item, please take the corresponding substitute from the shelf to the library staff at the information desk. You can also collect reserved items there as soon as they are available. Please treat all items with care and in accordance with the respective instructions. Please also note the terms of use for the Library of Things (see below).

Items must also be returned via the library information desk. Please ensure that items are returned undamaged, complete, clean and dry. The library staff will only then check the items back in! If something is not in order, please contact us in good time by email at bibliothek@hochschule-rhein-waal.de. Fees will be charged for items returned late in accordance with the schedule of fees.
