From chef to academic

Martin Willing (left), chef and award-winning graduate of the Bachelor's degree programme in Quality, Environment, Safety and Hygiene (QUSH) at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, is enrolled on the Master's degree programme in Food Science. Despite his success in the catering industry, he made a conscious decision to switch to the academic world. For his outstanding bachelor's thesis on the influence of glucose syrup colouring on fruit gums, he was awarded the prize for the best QUSH bachelor graduate of his year by the Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences Sponsors' Association and the Unternehmerschaft Niederrhein, represented by Dr. Ralf Wimmer (pictured right).
