All Bachelor students at the Rhine-Waal University are required to execute either a 20-week internship or a semester abroad during their 6th semester of studies. An internship offers you a good look at working life and gives you the chance to make important contacts. You can also absolve your internship abroad; not only will you gain work experience, but also improve your language skills and learn a lot about a new culture. A practicum abroad must, however, be planned well in advance and financing is an essential aspect.

You can find further information on DAAD’s website.

The Career Service of Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences provides advice for all students with regard to finding and applying for internships both in Germany and worldwide. Students who are looking for an internship are invited to contact their faculty’s career counsellor who will provide individual support and resources.

Another contact is the ZAV (Zentralstelle für Arbeitsvermittlung).

"Wege ins Auslandspraktikum" brochure

The brochure "Wege ins Auslandspraktikum" contains a detailed compendium of the topic internship abroad. Written in German, it goes from A to Z starting with “at the beginning was the extensive search on the internet…” and ending with “at the end I found my internship – and what now?” The brochure has many useful tips, compiled by the DAAD (Deutsche Akademische Austausch Dienst), the IAESTE (International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience), the IJAB (Internationale Jugendarbeit der Bundesrepublik Deutschland e.V.) and the ZAV (Zentrale Auslands- und Fachvermittlung der Bundesagentur für Arbeit). You can find another brochure by DAAD including testimonies here.
