European Credit Transfer System

ECTS facilitates recognition of gained academic achievements made up of 30 Credit Points per semester. One ECTS Credit Point equates to 25 to 30 learning hours. Comparison of marks or marking systems between universities in different countries is a very complex procedure. The ECTS compares the academic achievements of the single student with his or her direct fellow students. Credit Points are awarded in order to show academic achievements in a standardised form - the number of Credit Points depends on the average learning time.
