From transfer to transformation

How can we as a university actively contribute to ensuring that knowledge has an impact? More importantly, how can this lead to real transformation in education, the economy and society?

Campus Kleve

In keynote speeches, experts will answer the question of what qualifications are needed to enable transformation. Afterwards, teams from the TransRegINT project will present themselves at a project fair in the foyer. They will introduce their topics, milestones achieved so far and next steps.

All university staff and students interested in sustainability, innovation and shaping the future, as well as partners of the TransRegINT project, are invited to attend. Take this opportunity to learn about practical projects, exchange ideas with colleagues and gain inspiration for your own work.

No registration is required to participate.

Program

1:00–2:30 p.m.: Keynote speeches

Qualifications for transformative teaching, entrepreneurship and social change with Frank Wistuba (education officer and project manager for ‘bne:digital.nrw’)

Transformative teaching and learning in the context of education for sustainable development (ESD) goes beyond traditional knowledge transfer. It empowers students to think and act in a future-oriented way in order to actively shape socio-ecological change. But what skills are crucial for this? What content and methods support this process? And how can ESD be effectively anchored in higher education practice under the existing framework conditions?

Qualifications for transformative entrepreneurship with Prof. Dr. Christa Liedtke (Co-Chair of wpn2030, Chair of the Department of Sustainable Production and Consumption at the Wuppertal Institute)

The transformation of our economic system towards greater sustainability requires companies of all sizes and from all sectors to actively shape and drive this change. But how can this change be initiated and successfully implemented in and by companies? What skills are needed to achieve this? Which skills are already available and which need to be reintegrated into study and training programmes and taught?

Qualifications for successful transformation in society with Prof. Dr. Kora Kristof (Vice President of Digitalisation and Sustainability at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT))

We are facing the major social challenge of successfully shaping a fundamentally changing world in a sustainable and future-proof manner.
How can this transformation succeed without, for example, failing due to resistance to it? And what qualifications do we all need for a successful social transformation? What could and should we teach our students about this?

2:30–4:00 p.m.: Project fair in the foyer: What is happening at TransRegINT?

The transformation projects from TransRegINT will be presented in the foyer, providing insights into their work. The topics range from renewable energies, sustainable agriculture and digital assistance systems to active networking within and outside our university. We invite you to join us for coffee and cake, networking and discovery.
