Different housing options

Student Residence Halls

The Studierendenwerk Düsseldorf, a non-profit organisation for student affairs in Germany, maintains three residence halls in Kleve and two in Kamp-Lintfort. Residence halls provide different types of rooms. You can rent a single or a two-room flat or a room in a flat shared with two or three fellow students.

The applications are processed centrally by the Studierendenwerk Düsseldorf. Note that only a limited number of rooms are available each semester, so it’s very important that you sign up as soon as possible. To sign up, please use the official online application form.

If no rooms are available, you can choose to join the waiting list.

Flats and Flatsharing

Private flat offers are found online on various portal. One of the most famous are WG-gesucht or Kleinanzeigen. It also can help to look into local newspapers - new housing offers are normally published Wednesdays and Saturdays.

If you use social media like facebook you can get in touch with other students before you start studying. On social platform you can find posts for rooms and intermediate rent on a regular basis.

You haven’t found a place to stay yet and are about to arrive in Germany? In that case, definitely arrange temporary accommodation for the first few nights before your arrival. There are several options available such as holiday flats, youth hostels or hotels. You can also try to find a couchsurfing place by getting in touch with respective portals. That way you will have a place to stay and be able to continue your search for permanent accommodation locally.

Advisory Services

Please do not hesitate to contact the Welcome Centre of Rhine-Waal University for any questions you might have! Our student-based team knows well what it feels like to arrive from another country and be faced with the challenge of finding accommodation. While we can’t guarantee you a place to stay, the student tutors are always there and will be more than happy to help and share advice and many helpful tips on finding accommodation.
