What We Offer
The Welcome Centre will help you succeed both socially and academically and will support your transition to the cities of Kleve and Kamp-Lintfort. The Students4Students tutors working for the Welcome Centre can provide you with helpful resources, a support network, and, most importantly, a sense of caring and belonging to the Rhine-Waal family.
We know how it feels to come from another country and have all sorts of deadlines to worry about. You have to get all your documents in order and begin different application processes, all while adjusting to a new culture and unfamiliar situations. That’s why we’re dedicated to helping you overcoming these challenges. We’ve always got an open ear if you have any questions or concerns… or even if you don’t and just want to chat.
Besides the challenges university life brings, students also need to cope with everyday issues, many of which they’re facing for the first time. This can begin with something simple like what to make for dinner, how to wash your clothes or how to best organise your desk. It can also involve more complicated issues, like learning how to make a flat share work. But you know what? We went through all that ourselves, so we know what works and what doesn’t and that gives us a lot of good advice to share.
The Welcome Centre is also responsible for starting different kinds of programs to make student life easier, more meaningful and, of course, more fun. Besides our language tandem programme and special introduction events for freshers, we can also help you with matters relating to your recidence permit and even accompany you to the immigration office to speak German on your behalf.
The Students4Students tutors are always there when you need help filling out forms, calling people who can’t speak English, finding a room in a flat share, or navigating your way through moodle and the HIS online portal. We can also give you helpful tips about internships and part-time job opportunities during your studies.
Our goal is simple: to support you throughout your whole time at our university, to direct you to the right contact persons and to simply make you feel welcome here.
