Ein Keks ist ein süßes Gebäck mit hohem Zucker- und Fettgehalt. Der Teig für Kekse ist weicher als der für andere Kekse, und sie werden länger bei niedrigeren Temperaturen gebacken. Der Teig besteht in der Regel aus Mehl, Zucker, Ei und einer Art Öl oder Fett. Er kann auch andere Zutaten wie Rosinen, Haferflocken, Schokoladenstückchen oder Nüsse enthalten. Die Beschaffenheit von Keksen variiert von knusprig bis weich und zäh, je nach der genauen Kombination der Zutaten und der Herstellungsmethode.
