“This violence began before me. Perhaps when my grandfathers, victims of crossfire, were attacked, robbed and beaten by it. Or maybe when my parents were finally displaced by the guerrillas of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Columbia (FARC, in Spanish). I went into the rainforest because the guerrilla gave me no choice. Then I became part of the United Self-Defense Forces of Columbia (in Spanish AUC) and alongside others we struggled every day for a little bit of dignity. Here are all the stories lived from the bowels of the jungle. In that conflict, I tried to protect and keep my son Clein away from the war damage. But at the age of six, he decided to be part of the armed group to which I belonged. Here is written also his voice and his gaze. Both of us are children of a war that continues, which is still taking lives, sharpening its corruption in the people`s need. A war that is disguised constantly in the mass media.”
