Overview of Advising Services at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences
Which is the right advising service for me at what point – An orientation guide
1. Before beginning your studies:
The Central Student Advisory Service (ZSB) is the first and most important contact for prospective students interested in applying to Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences. Their advice and guidance can help you make an informed decision, learn more about our available degrees and understand the intricacies of the application and selection process.
2. As a student:
The demands of student life can lead to a lot of questions and uncertainty. For many, it’s not only the first time living on their own, but also first time living without regular support to organize and structure their schedules. Under these conditions, additional guidance is often more than welcome, whether for your studies or just the day-to-day.
Fortunately, there are a number of places on campus that can help. Not only that, we also closely cooperate with off-campus advising services as well, for example the Studierendenwerk Düsseldorf and pme Family Services.
Individual guidance
If you’re in need of advice and just not sure whom to turn to, there are two groups that can guide you to the right person: the Study Guides in each faculty and the Central Student Advisory Services (ZSB). Both advisors are always ready to lend an ear and, if necessary, refer you directly to trained specialists on and off-campus based on your specific needs.
Beyond acting as initial contact points, the ZSB also provides help and guidance to prospective students and to currently enrolled students who are looking to change their degree or struggling with social or cultural orientation issues.
Study Guides, on the other hand, specialize in issues connected to your faculty and/or degree programme, or your individual academic progress.
Regardless of advisor, it’s never too early to seek out help, advice or support. In fact, the sooner you do, the more likely you’ll find a simple, straight-forward solution so that you can get back to what you came here for in the first place: to earn your degree!
3. Final phase of studies / graduation
Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences also offers a range of services to students nearing graduation. Our Career Service, for example, offers various informational events and advising options to help students not only find a part-time job or internship during their studies, but also tackle long(er) term career planning.
Finally, graduates can stay connected with other alumni and their alma mater through the Alumni Network. The Alumni Network offers a growing range of exclusive networking events and career-related seminars.
