Disability Liaison Officer
Für eine inklusive und barrierefreie Arbeitswelt
The Disability Liaison Officer (SBV) is a legally mandated representative of the interests of employees of Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences with a severe disability or equivalent status. The Disability Liaison Officer is responsible for a wide range of tasks, all of which ultimately serve to ensure and promote greater levels of participation for affected employees in their profession. These tasks include, but are not limited to:
1. Promoting inclusion
The SBV is actively committed to creating a working environment in which people with disabilities can work on an equal footing with their colleagues. Our goal is a higher education culture in which diversity is valued and no one is disadvantaged due to a disability.
2. Ensuring participation in the workplace
The SBV provides assistance in planning and implementing workspaces that meet individual needs. This involves, for example, procuring relevant technical aids or arranging for flexible working hours.
3. Creating accessibility
An accessible workplace is a fundamental prerequisite for participation. The SBV ensures that physical, digital and organisational barriers to entry are identified and dismantled.
4. Participation in personnel measures
By law, the SBV must be involved in any personnel measures for affected employees, e.g. hiring, transfer or dismissal, at an early stage of the process. The SBV accompanies these processes with an eye for solutions, representing the interests of the affected employees.
5. Monitoring compliance
The SBV is responsible for monitoring compliance with all relevant legal rights and requirements, in particular those set forth by the German Social Code, Volume IX (SGB IX), which regulates the occupational rights of colleagues with a severe disability.
6. Cooperation with committees and external bodies
The SBV works closely with the staff councils, the equal opportunities office, affected employees’ own departments, inclusion officers and external partners such as the Integration Office (Integrationsamt) and the Employment Agency (Agentur für Arbeit). This active collaboration ensures all-encompassing support for employees. The SBV thus ensures that the interests of employees with a severe disability are duly considered with all important decisions.
We are here for you: building a fair and supportive environment together!
If you have any questions at all, whether about employment, everyday problems at work, applying for special arrangements etc., the SBV is there to lend a helping ear and hand.
Confidential, competent and committed.
