Incomings
Welcome! If you are about to spend a semester at the faculty of technology and bionics, this page will help you with important information related to all academic topics.
Prepare your study semester at our faculty
Course Selection
The Faculty of Technology and Bionics currently offers Bachelor study programmes in Engineering and Materials Sciences.
You can find an overview about what you can study below.
Module Descriptions
Each module (course) has an official description (syllabus). The various learning outcomes and topics that are to be addressed by the teaching staff in the module are listed here, along with some helpful resources. These should be useful for incoming students and their advisors to decide on appropriate equivalences between universities.
The links to the module descriptions are given below under the respective semester (winter term 2025/26, summer term 2026, winter term 2026/27).
Important
In the winter term 2025/26, we start with new bachelor study programmes. At the same time, other bachelor study programmes will run out. Therefore, not all modules might be available. This page helps you to find out what modules you can take, click on the respective semester.
Timetables
- Time tables are usually announced some weeks before the semester starts.
- You will get them by email. It might happen that two of the courses you've chosen overlap, in that case you will need to modify your learning agreement.
- You cannot visit courses/modules in which lectures, practical training and the like overlap.
-
You will have some weeks after the semester has started to hand in a changed learning agreement. Please note that changed learning agreements are only signed after your home university has signed them.
During & after your study time at our faculty
Examination Periods
There are two periods of examinations in the Faculty of Technology and Bionics. The principal periods are in January/February and July. Examinations are usually scheduled in the examination period immediately following the course. Note that sometimes exams are scheduled for the time after the semester has officially ended.
Homework and Term Papers
Some courses are not assessed with examinations at all. In these courses, the professor can choose instead to assign a set of homework or a term paper. Deadlines may vary, and can be any time in the semester, up to the last day, namely the 31st of August or 28th of February. It is not typically necessary for visiting students to stay in Kleve after the official examination period, but if you take a course which is assessed in this way, make sure to check with the instructor about physical presence requirements.
Exams without grades
Sometimes and especially when you have assignments in your class rather than an exam you will not get a grade but only a "failed" or "passed". If your home university requires you to have a grade make sure to contact our academic exchange coordinator early so that this problem can be solved.
Failed exams
In case you've failed an exam at our faculty and would like to re-take it make sure to let our academic exchange coordinator know as early as possible. We cannot guarantee a re-take but we will look for possible solutions.
