Nairobi Kleve Model African Union 2022

This year's Nairobi-Kleve Model African Union (NKMAU) took place from 22 to 25 June 2022. In addition to the International Relations, B.A. students from Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, students from Riara University in the same subject were also involved. Online, all students participated in the very active debate on the issues of health and food security.

Under the leadership of Katja Flockau, research assistant in the central programme management with a focus on gender studies and international relations, this year's conference was jointly organised by students with a grant from Engagement Globa's ASA programme from Kenya as well as from Germany. Participants were actively involved in the debate and rated the conference as "challenging", "insightful" and "superb". In a keynote of the opening ceremony, Dr. Consolata Mwimali of Riara University cherished the partnership and the joint simulation as a way for students to build bonds across continents and borders. The keynote of the closing ceremony was given by Katharina McLarren of Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law. She emphasized of the different ways of learnings, the students had experienced in the previous days and was impressed by the results of the conference.
