Master´s students at Rhine-Waal University go on an excursion to the European Central Bank and German Central Bank in Frankfurt

26 students in the “Economics and Finance” Master´s program at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences visited the European Central Bank (ECB) and German Central Bank (GCB) in Frankfurt on June 13-14, 2019. The excursion was a part of the course “Applied Research Project” and its aim was to familiarize students with the work of two of the most powerful financial institutions in Europe.

#Lectures for future

To raise awareness about the urgent need for action with regards to climate change, ten professors at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences initiated the campaign LecturesForFuture. Which has been organised to support the FridaysForFuture movement and the students’ request for politics to take immediate steps in order to stop climate change worldwide. The LecturesForFuture will take place from 14th to 20th June 2019 across countries and different academic disciplines. The campaign is organised in cooperation with the ScientistsForFuture.

Prof. Dr. Jakob Lempp attends the international conference "The EU, Central Asia and the South Caucasus: New Approaches to Regional and International Cooperation"

On the 23rd and 24th of May 2019 Prof. Dr. Jakob Lempp attends the international conference "The EU, Central Asia and the South Caucasus: New Approaches to Regional and International Cooperation" in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The conference, organized by the Institute for European Politics in Berlin, the Center international de formation européenne, the European Union and the OSCE Academy, brought together experts from science and politics and addressed topics of regional integration in Europe, the Caucasus region and Central Asia. Jakob Lempp took over the chai in the panel "Regional and International Cooperation in the Areas of Trade and Energy".

Field trip to leading German development policy Think Tank

About 40 students from the Master’s in Sustainable Development Management participated in a workshop from 14 to 15 May, 2019. The workshop had been organised by the Faculty of Society and Economics and the German Development Institute (GDI-DIE). GDI-DIE hosted the students who had the opportunity to learn more about the work of the institute and its research facilities. Throughout the workshop, Dr Mark Furness (GDI-DIE) and Professor Alexander Brand (RWU) advised the students on how to write a policy paper.

Prof Lempp über Zentralasien - Portrait einer Region im Umbruch

Wie unter einem Brennglas finden sich in Zentralasien viele Probleme und Themen der internationalen Politik nebeneinander: Bürgerkriege, Armut, geopolitische Verwerfungen und skurrile Diktatoren stehen neben erstaunlicher ökonomischer Entwicklung, neuem Reichtum, Demokratisierung und nicht zuletzt einer atemberaubenden Landschaft, die zunehmend auch von Touristen aus Europa entdeckt wird. Am Mittwoch, 15. Mai, um 18 Uhr zeichnet Prof. Dr. Jakob Lempp im VHS-Haus das Portrait einer Region im Umbruch. Damit startet das Forum Internationale Politik, eine gemeinsame Veranstaltungsreihe von Hochschule Rhein Waal, VHS Kleve und Haus Mifgash, ins Frühjahrsemester. Der Eintritt ist wie immer frei.
