Autumn Holiday Programme 2021
This autumn our holiday camp took place in cooperation with #pme_familienservice at campus Kleve and Kamp-Lintfort offering the children of staff members and students of the university a lot of fun. This years´ mottoes were: “Explore the nature of the Lower Rhine!” and “Explore your local home!”. The children baked their own bread, did some sports, visited museums and castles in the surrounding areas, played out their creativity doing handicrafts such as carved pumpkins, lanterns, prints, etc. and so much more.
STEP UP AND SPEAK OUT - BYSTANDER INTERVENTION WORKSHOP
The Equal Opportunities Team and Fairspace invites students to participate in an interactive Bystander Intervention Workshop "Step up and Speak out" on Wednesday, 30th June from 4 - 5:30 pm.
To register send an email with your hsrw-email address to: victoria.scheyer@hochschule-rhein-waal.de.
What is the workshop about?
Do you want to know what you can do to build a safe and inclusive university environment? Our vision is for a society in which everyone, regardless of sex, race, gender or gender expression, feels safe moving through public spaces, including those places where we learn. Feeling safe and included is crucial to create cultures of respect. By encouraging a shift in attitudes, beliefs, and behavior, bystander intervention prevents (sexual) harassment and other forms of inappropriate behaviour, and motivates more positive, respectful and constructive interactions. In the workshop, you will learn about power and privilege, different forms of inappropriate behaviour, and practical strategies for what you can do when you experience or observe harassment. Please join us and Stand Up for a safe university, campus and society!
This workshop is in English and all gender identities are welcome!
This workshop will be offered again for staff and students in the upcoming winter semester 2021/2022.
MINT GIRLS SUMMER SCHOOL
Since 2017 the Faculty of Technology and Bionics has regularly offered a one-week summer school on STEM (mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology) for interested female students during the summer vacations. The participants experiment, build and work together for a week under the guidance of professors and staff in various workshops on STEM topics. Robotics with self-built soft robots and mini-submarines are on the agenda, as are insights into programming, physics and math, thermodynamics and chemistry. Other integral parts of the program include joint breaks and sports sessions organized by the university's sports department. The students are supervised by female students from the faculty.
All interested female students from the age of 16 can take part, participation is free of charge. At the end, all participants receive a certificate. For further information click here.
