Partnerships with universities from East-Central Europe, Southeast and Eastern Europe, to the Caucasus Central Asia (Eastern Partnerships Project)
The Eastern Partnerships Project of Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences is financed by the German Academic Exchange Programme (DAAD) and was initiated in 2016 under the leadership of Professor Dr. Dietrich Darr. The project has led to successful partnerships with the Kyrgyz National Agrarian University in Bishkek, the Vologda State Dairy Farming Academy in Russia and the Kharkiv National Agricultural University in Ukraine. These partnerships make new levels of cooperation possible, including academic staff exchanges, exchange opportunities for students and joint development of academic content and curricula. Currently, professors and staff in the Faculties of Life Sciences and Technology and Bionics are actively involved in the project activities, though activities are set to be expanded to other areas of the University in the next project funding period (2019-2021).

Project-funded Activities
- Stays of foreign researchers with a PhD, educators, assistants or chief administration officials of up to one month in Germany for study or research purposes.
- Stays of foreign undergraduates, graduates and doctoral students of up to three months in Germany for study or research purposes;
- Funding mobility-related costs (but not accommodation costs) of German researchers with a PhD, educators, assistants, chief administration officials and students, arising from study or research-related stays at eastern partner universities.
