Students experience EU politics up close: Excursion to Brussels opens doors to European institutions
Three days after the European elections, 54 students led by Katja Flockau and Dr. Niklas Rolf went on an excursion to Brussels on 12 June 2024. There, they had the unique opportunity to get to know the institutions of the European Union - the subject of Prof. Dr. Jakob Lempp's course "European Integration" - from the inside. It started with two exciting presentations on the European Commission and the Green Deal. This was followed by a discussion on the question of who could become the next President of the Commission. In the afternoon, the European Parliament was on the agenda. In particular, the question of how the current election results will affect the composition and ability to act of the future Parliament was discussed. Finally, the students were able to take a look inside the plenary chamber.
