Every year, the University of Turin hosts the "Region Europe" program, an interdisciplinary lecture series sponsored by the European Union. The program focuses on the European Union as a model of regional integration and on the role of the European Union as a global actor in international relations. Prof. Jakob Lempp, Professor for Political Science with a focus on International Relations, spoke in a hybrid format on November 16, 2021 to about 100 participants from different European countries on the topic "The European Union - seen from a post-Merkel Germany". He tried to answer the question of how Germany's role within the European Union will develop after the end of Angela Merkel's 16-year chancellorship and what consequences the change of government in Germany will have for regional integration in Europe.
