Accident insurance

The accident insurance regulations of the accident class of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia apply for employees and enrolled students.

(1) Accident insurance coverage of HSRW students

When participating in university sports, there is a statutory accident insurance cover only for students enrolled at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences under certain conditions (§ Section 2 (1) No. 8c Seventh Book of the Social Code (SGB VII)).

The condition is that the sports facilities at the University has the character of an official university event or the University Sports of the University itself or a university-based institution is carried out under the supervision of an ordered exercise conductor.

(2) Accident insurance coverage of employees of HSRW

Employees of the university are only insured when participating in university sports if the special requirements of company sports are present at the same time. Accident-insured company sport exists if the sport has compensatory and not competitive character, it takes place regularly, the group of participants is essentially limited to university members and members, the exercise time and duration of the training are in a connection with the company activity and the sport is company-related is organized.

For civil servants, an accident in the context of university sports is usually not considered a service accident. There is no claim to accident care.

Private insurance coverage is therefore strongly recommended to all employees.

(3) Accident reporting requirement

Students who suffer an accident are required to report accidents immediately (within three days) so that the required accident report can be forwarded to the competent insurance authority. Messages are sent to the SSC.
