From theory to practice: 'Green Nudge' - insights into the Erasmus project of the "Quality, Environment, Safety and Hygiene" degree programme.
As part of our commitment to international education and interdisciplinary research, we are pleased to present a report on the recent Erasmus project 'Green Nudge'. Co-authored by Emilie Kühn, a dedicated student of the 'Quality, Environment, Safety and Hygiene' programme at our Faculty of Life Sciences, this report offers an insight into the diverse experiences and insights our students gained during their week-long stay at the Université Catholique de Lyon in France.
One-week Erasmus stay at UCLY: a platform for intercultural exchange
"A one-week Erasmus stay at the Université Catholique de Lyon (UCLY) in France offered us, the Bachelor students on the Quality, Environment, Safety and Hygiene and Bio Science and Health degree programmes, a unique opportunity for intercultural collaboration and knowledge exchange. We, 19 dedicated students from Germany, Finland, Sweden, the Czech Republic and local students from UCLY's Quality, Environment and Safety programme, worked together on an environmental protection project called 'Green Nudge'. Our project began with a shared vision of how small nudges can lead to environmentally friendly behaviour change. Guided by Jade Knorst and using a multidisciplinary approach combining psychology, sociology and environmental science, we developed innovative strategies to promote awareness of sustainable lifestyles in the local community.
'Green Nudges' - Innovative ideas for a sustainable community
In international mixed teams, we analysed the impact of behavioural change on the environment and explored effective methods to motivate the community to adopt sustainable practices. Through intensive brainstorming and intercultural discussions, we developed innovative 'green nudges' that subtly encourage environmentally friendly behaviour.
Our ideas ranged from information campaigns on recycling and pollution to sustainable transport initiatives, which were enthusiastically received by local experts and community representatives. The cross-border cooperation and cultural exchange not only enriched the project, but also our personal development. The deep appreciation of diversity and co-operation will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on us and we hope that our efforts will leave a lasting mark on Lyon as it moves towards a more sustainable future.
