Early May, twenty of our students in the Master’s “Sustainable Development Management” attended  a workshop which had been organised by the Study Programme and the German Development Institute in Bonn. Dr Mark Furness (DIE) and Professor Alexander Brand (Faculty of Society and Economics) discussed aspects of EU development policy, in particular the Agenda 2030 and sustainability issues, with the students. A particular focus was on visiting leading development institutions in Bonn, e.g. the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the United Nations’ SDG Action Campaign, and the German Institute for the Evaluation of Development Cooperation (DEval). The students used this opportunity to discuss challenges of sustainable development with experts working at these institutions. Given the success of this event, all parties agreed to continue cooperation between the GDI-DIE and Rhine-Waal University in the future, in particular as regards the Master’s “Sustainable Development Management”.
